Astrology – 5th House – Putra – House of Children

This is the 5th house of any birth chart. This is the house from where you see your Children.

This house represents progeny, cure from diseases, good health, loss of job or now opportunity in a job, intelligence, artistic activity – sports, drama etc., speculative activities, love and romance, stage performance, theatrics, arts, media, cinema, fun, temporary shelter, type of education, stock market, gambling, politics, minister, fight for your homeland, hoarded assets of the family, knowledge of ancient scriptures, astrological books, spirituality, righteousness, excelling in competitive exams.

Benefic planets placed well in the 5th house give good results for the above significations. While Malefic planets place not so well in the 5th house will create problems is the fructification of the above significations.

This house also called Putra Bhava as it represents your eldest son.

Relatives it signifies are – Children.

The body parts signified by this house are Stomach.

Placements of different planets and lords of different houses in the 5th house play a very crucial role to judge the entire well being of the house.

Below are the basic and general permutation and combinations, as given in the texts, if the 5th lord is placed in the 12 different houses. This is at a very basic and mundane level. The actual impact can be judged when we combine the Lord placement with the sign and planet placements. But from a basic comprehension aspect, this will be helpful to understand as we go along. So, this is not to be taken literally as full diagnosis is required. You also have to understand, that these texts were written when our society and culture had much different values and norms. You have to be intelligent enough to interpret these according to today’s time place and condition. These are just excerpts. We shall cover this in details a different series on “Lords in the Houses”.

5th Lord in the 1st house: Native will be scholarly, be endowed with progenic happiness, be a miser, be crooked and will steal others’ wealth.

5th Lord in the 2nd house: Native will have many sons and wealth, be a pater familias (the male head of a family or household), be honourable, be attached to his spouse and be famous in the world.

5th Lord in the 3rd house: Native will be attached to his co-born, be a tale bearer and a miser and be always interested in his own work.

5th Lord in the 4th house: Native will be happy, endowed with maternal happiness, wealth and intelligence and be a king, or a minister, or a preceptor.

5th Lord in the 5th house: Native will have progeny, if related to a benefic; there will be no issues, if malefic is related to Putr’s Lord, placed in Putr Bhava. Putr’s Lord in Putr Bhava will, however, make one virtuous and dear to friends.

5th Lord in the 6th house: Native will obtain such sons, who will be equal to his enemies, or will lose them, or will acquire an adopted son.

5th Lord in the 7th house: Native will be honourable, very religious, endowed with progenic happiness and be helpful to others.

5th Lord in the 8th house: Native will not have much progenic happiness, be troubled by cough and pulmonary (relating to lungs) disorders, be given to anger and be devoid of happiness.

5th Lord in the 9th house: Native will be a prince, or equal to him, will author treatises, be famous and will shine in his race.

5th Lord in the 10th house: Native will enjoy a Raj Yog and various pleasures and be very famous.

5th Lord in the 11th house: Native will be learned, dear to people, be an author of treatises, be very skilful and be endowed with many sons and wealth.

5th Lord in the 12th house: Native will be bereft of happiness from his own sons, will have an adopted son.
